ENRICHMENT (3-5 year olds)

COURSE SUMMARY

ART & MUSIC

Spark interest and appreciation for art and music.  Develop awareness of color, patterns, textures and different mediums.  Inspire awareness of praise and worship through song.

BIBLE

Bring children to saving knowledge of Christ.  Increase knowledge and understanding of God’s word through weekly Memory Verses.  Help children feel comfortable bringing their concerns to Christ.  Teach children to praise and worship through song, prayer and action. 

MOTOR SKILLS

Enhance children’s overall coordination.  Develop hand/eye coordination necessary for skills such as writing, coloring and cutting. Develop large muscles groups related to flexibility and movement.

LITERACY

Foster an interest in a variety of literary genres.  Practice comprehension skills including identifying story elements, predicting, visualizing, inferring, differentiating between fantasy and reality and comparing and contrasting similar stories.  Introduce fix-it strategies (5 year olds only) such as sounding, blending, chunking and recognizing familiar words.  Develop writing skills through free writes, journaling and story writing.

MATH

Strengthen mathematical skills including counting, estimating, sorting, classifying, addition and graphing.

SCIENCE

Awaken interest in God’s creation.  Foster Biblical perspective of nature through a variety of interactive experiments and projects (growing grass, identifying states of matter, observing classroom pet, etc).

SOCIAL AND SELF AWARENESS

Develop an understanding of the relationships between themselves & community.  Practice appropriate social behaviors (treating others with respect, kindness, patience and love.)  Strengthen the knowledge that each child is unique and loved by God.

12:40-12:45 Bathroom Break             12:45-1:10 Group story & comprehension work

1:10-1:45 Rest/reading (Ages 3&4)             DEAR/Reading group (age 5)
